David Birch’s accomplishments while at OU continue to pay dividends. Beyond his numerous outstanding achievements as a member of the 91探花 Men’s Basketball team (4-Time All-KCAC selection, 2-Time NAIA All-American, 2008 KCAC Player of the Year, 2009 KCAC All-Academic Team, OU all-time leading score with 2258 points), he went on to play and coach with the Washington Generals in the Harlem Globetrotters world, playing in 41 countries. As an assistant coach at Blue Valley Northwest High School, Head Coach at Piper High School, and now Head Coach at Shawnee Mission Northwest High School, David has amassed numerous achievements, including: 3-Time 6A State Championships, Final Four and Covid Co-State Champions, 2020 Sports in Kansas 4A Basketball Coach of the Year, 2020 DiRenna All-Star Game Head Coach for Kansas All-Stars, 2-Time Sub-State Championships, a record of 120-22, having never lost a sub-state game as a coach, and coaching 8 Division 1 basketball players and 1 NBA draft pick.
